Father’s Day is celebrating its 108th anniversary this year on 17 June and it all began when a young woman decided her dad was simply the best.
Now celebrated worldwide in recognition of the important contribution fathers and father figures make in the lives of their children, families and society, the origin of this special day begins with the heartwarming story of Sonora Smart Dodd’s quest to make sure the world knew her dad was a hero. According to the history books, young Sonora came up with the idea tohonourher father while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in church.
