Chocolate is the answer no matter the questionbecaleb
Easter is right around the corner and like all great holidays it goes hand in hand with some delicious treats to enjoy with friends and family. Hot cross buns and sharing Sunday lunches are all part and parcel of this wonderful time of year and fortunately for those of us with a sweet tooth so are all things chocolate.
History tells us that the earliest Easter eggs were hen or duck eggs decorated at home in bright colours with vegetable dye and charcoal. To this day it is customary in many cultures to continue to dye Easter eggs while adding a special touch by decorating them with flowers. But it’s believed the very first edible chocolate eggs were made in the early 19th century, with France and Germany taking the lead in creating a new and unique approach to artistic confectionery. Fast forward to today and the range of chocolate eggs on offer are as numerous as they are delicious.
On the off chance chocolate eggs don’t get you excited, then the chocolate Easter bunny will certainly be enough to make any chocaholic’s heart melt. The Easter bunny, much loved by kids and second only to Santa Claus, also has an interesting backstory. It’s thought that legend of a bunny bringing eggs was first introduced to the United States by German travellers. The legend, passed on from generation to generation, holds that the Easter bunny brings baskets filled with coloured eggs, sweets, and sometimes even toys to the homes of children on the night before Easter. Legend goes that the playful bunny will either put the baskets in a designated place or hide them in the house or garden for children to search for when they wake up in the morning, giving rise to the fun-filled tradition of the famed Easter egg hunt.
This month, Mall of the North is making sure the Easter holidays are extra special with Kids Club Activities from 10 to 15 April and Easter Fun Rides from 7 to 17 April. And the absolutely fabulous cherry on top is Mall of the North’s 6th birthday celebrations on 11 April. Of course the best part about birthdays, whether it’s yours or not, is you’re allowed to indulge in chocolate completely guilt-free.
So go on and spoil yourself and have a very happy Easter!
